Happy Monday! (Why not? Go ahead, let someone else have a miserable Monday.)

By the way, I want to thank those of you who wrote me and told me that I still suck at marketing and that I should let my cat write my ezines from now on.

Anyway, most likely everyone else out there in Newlsetter Land is writing about Thanksgiving, being grateful for what we've got and all that stuff.

Not me. I want to talk about being miserable, resentful and ungrateful.

So, today's one article from me is about the Joys of Misery.

Other than my article, I want to introduce you to an incredible person: Paul Durbin.

This amazing and wonderful man helped to change my life and I am sure that you will find his website chock-full of very useful information.

Another (f)ungrateful thing I want to briefly cover today is how you can get the gift of happiness (really!) and $60.00 worth of free CDs created by me.

You can get all these great things while providing shelter to those who really need it.

And next week I'm going to tell you about a seminar I attended in England that was incredible.

Rarely have I seen such a master presenter.

Until then, have a miserable, unrewarding week.

    I know I will.

    Warm Regards,

    Devin

"You should be grateful for what you've got."

Oh yeah? Well now I've got a pain in my butt because of your annoying ideas.

Seriously, how often have you felt guilty because you think you should be grateful for what you've got but you can't?

And then, because you're not grateful enough (if at all) don't you feel more miserable?

Click on link to right to learn more about the joys of misery and why Thanksgiving sucks!

    Paul Durbin--An Amazing Person

Chaplain Paul Durbin is also a former United States Army general and is a man of many talents.

Paul is also an incredible hypnotist and has created a website with a wealth of information for those of you that are interested.

Fortunately for all of us, Paul's site is now back on line. You see, hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc in his life for over 3 months but he is now back in business.

Also, he's got a new book and I can guarantee that any book Paul writes is exceptional and worth adding to your library.

Check out his articles and maybe enrich your life and skills with his new book Hypnotherapy for Body, Mind and Spirit.

"One man has enthusiasm for 30 minutes, another for 30 days, but it is the man who has it for 30 years who makes a success of his life." - Edward B. Butler

Life is about enthusiasm. And, you could say that death is about a certain lack of enthusiasm. (grin)

Enthusiasm is not always about being pleasantly positive. Sometimes it's about being forceful.

Today's main article is about a man who is enthusiastic in every way that matters.

He is a man who has graduated with a Master's degree from the School of Hard Knocks.

He knows how to enjoy Life and is an expert at helping others to do the same.

Today's ezine is also introducing you to some very compelling evidence concerning how hypnosis has proven to help with weight loss and no, it’s not the same evidence from Dateline you probably know about already.

I'm talking medical documentation, not "media documentation" (a.k.a. Mocumentation) which, while great for marketing is not to be relied on as 'proof'.

Also, I thought you might appreciate saving a lot of money on holiday gifts while giving something that is life changing.

Finally, with the wind chill, it's about 22 degrees below zero here so, if you're somewhere warm, send a few rays this way!

P.S., Tomorrow is a special day to remember. Please remember to take a moment in silence and gratitude.

    'Warm' Regards,

    Devin

"People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one." ~Leo J. Burke

I have learned just how true this saying really is.

You see, on May 24th this year, I became a father for the first time ever.

On that day, my amazing wife Rachel gave birth to our son, William Harrison Hastings.

And, a week later, I had to leave to give a two-day workshop on Emergency Hypnosis and Anxiety Disorders to a wonderful group of people in London, England.

Now, British hospitality and friendliness is always amazing but I must say, when I wasn't teaching or chatting with my incredible hosts and colleagues, my mind was back in Minnesota with my wife and child because I missed them so much.

All this brings me to the focus of today's ezine: anxiety.

Anxiety disorders are very painful and they afflict many, many people who need your skilled and caring assistance so that they may lead a fuller, happier life.

Therefore, it is the purpose of today's issue to share with you information that will help you to help others.

I will do my best to give you solid information combined with a fresh perspective on an age-old challenge.

Please note that today's information is different from that discussed in an earlier newsletter.

    Anxiously Yours,

    Devin

How Can A Hypnotist Help The Anxiety/OCD Sufferer?

There are 5 ways in which a hypnotist can responsibly and powerfully help a person suffering from an anxiety disorder.

Click on the link to the right to learn more.

    Warriors, Settlers, Nomads and Hypnosis

As mentioned in the introduction, I spent 4 days in London, England. I flew there to give two certification workshops. (Boy were my arms tired!)

My host, Terence Watts, is not only a terrific person but, he is a wonderfully gifted hypnotist and author.

At the end of this mini-article is a link to an excellent article by Terry that is well worth reading.

Now, I have almost all of Terry's products but, if I had to choose two to recommend (which I am doing because they really will help you), I would strongly urge you to get these two items:

    Warriors, Settlers and Nomads--a book

    Rapid Cognitive Therapy--another book

Crucial! (a great script book along with a deep discussion of Warriors, Settlers and Nomads).

O.K, I said two but listed three.

Did you know that 5 out of 4 hypnotists have trouble with fractions?

Anyway, enjoy Terry's article. There is a goldmine of information there.

And, there is a test to tell you if you are a Warrior, Settler or Nomad. Have fun!

Who Am I if I'm Not OCD?

Anxiety challenges and OCD are subjects dear to my heart.

Of all the literature I have researched, virtually none of it deals with this crucial issue: the client's core identity once they have been freed of their anxiety (especially OCD).

Nature abhors a vacuum. A person will not, in fact, cannot change, until they have a compelling idea of where they are going and who they are becoming.

The following article addresses this subject to some degree.

In it, I have presented some points of view from a personal and a professional perspective that hopefully will deepen your understanding and ability in regards to those with OCD/anxiety challenges.

Another Excellent Contribution by Charlie Badenhop

Some day I will meet Charlie Badenhop in person and that will be a great honor for me because his character shines through his writing and his website.

Today's contribution by Charlie is a good read and definitely worth the short amount of time it takes to see what he has to say.

"Do not be afraid of tomorrow for God is already there."

    Happy July Everybody!

July is a happy month in so many ways. First, it means our beautiful son Harry is now a whole 2 months old. Wow, I have never seen time fly so fast.

Another reason July is such a good month is because it means the National Guild of Hypnotists international convention is next month!

I have been going for over 10 years and it gets better all the time. If you've never been or if you haven't been for a while, check it out!

Today's newsletter deals with a very serious medical condition that affects millions of people and how hypnosis can make an amazing difference.

And the second thing I want to chat about is that since it is that time of year again for the "hypno- candy store" to open (the NGH convention), I am listing a quick description of the seminars and workshops I am offering at the convention and for the rest of this year. A link to more complete descriptions and registration information will also be listed.

By the way, I call the NGH convention a "hypno- candy store" because the amount of quality education and heart-warming comaraderie is simply mind-boggling.

And, speaking of an educational candy store, if you want to listen to 23 high quality, no-cost seminars, the link is listed in the 3rd discussion box titled: High Quality Teleseminars Available Now.

    See you at the convention!

    Devin

    When Your Client Has GAS.

In this article we are going to look at General Adaptation Syndrome which is a very real and prevalent health condition that can be extremely injurious to a person's health but, is easy to change using hypnosis.

After a brief explanation of this serious and pervasive medical condition, we are then going to look at a case history and how hypnosis was used to successfully help my client.

Please note that the case history is "tongue-in- cheek" and some may find the material offensive but, it is highly instructive (in a humorous way) about very real and effective hypnosis techniques.

Seminars and Workshops by Devin Hastings

Following is a list of seminars and certification workshops that may pique your interest. If so, the link following will direct you to a page where you will find class descriptions and registration info.

Please note that the NGH classes I am offering or part of, are free with your paid entrance fee to this once-a-year amazing event.

Let me stress that what you can learn and the terrific people you will meet at this event is worth many times the registration fee.

I hope to see you in one or more of the following:

    • Reducing Anger With Self-Hypnosis
    • Ultra-Learning Skills With Hypnotism
    • Hypnotism for Self-Regulation--Helping Clients with Allergies, Diabetes, Chronic Pain, IBS and CFS-- 6 presenters
    • New Answers for Diabetes--Become A Certified Diabetes Motivational Coach

In late September I am giving a 4-day workshop in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Certifications offered are:

    • Diabetes Motivational Coach
    • Anxiety/OCD Specialist
    • Emergency Hypnosis

Remember, you get more for your money in Canada which is also a beautiful place to visit and, having lived there for 3 years, I can tell you that Canadians are wonderful people.

The diabetes certification workshop is also being offered in late October in Longmont, Colorado.

Finally, when I think of the cost of education, I also think of these two quotes:

"If you think education is expensive, try ignorance."

My experience has shown me that the people who are exceptionally good in business aren’t so because of what they know but because of their insatiable need to know more."---Michael Gerber

    High Quality Teleseminars Available Now

23 of the NGH's finest presenters gave teleseminars in which they shared a tremendous amount of great information.

My diabetes teleseminar is also listed and there is a lot of information given that you can use right now to help a person diabetes.

    Enjoy!
